Is Now the Best Time to Open a Restaurant?
Loopnet recently asked “Is Now the Best Time to Open a Restaurant?” We agree with their analysis that it is. Now presents an unprecedented opportunity for new restaurants to meet the pent-up demand caused by closures, and patrons itching to get out of the house. That’s why we’re teamed up with Character: A property company and Legacy Design Studio to bring to fruition a space that will serve a new restaurant tenant to meet this demand.
For newcomers and veteran restaurateurs alike, now is the time. Industry professionals quoted in the article are cautious to suggest that, “people who are not intimately familiar with the industry charge in,” and state that, “the bigger players are only going to get stronger.” With some uncertainty from the pandemic still lingering, we understand that it can bet dauting to get a new operation off the ground.
Responding to these trends, Character is holding the “Make it on Main” business plan competition. One winner will receive one free year of rent along with supportive services from a killer team of Buffalo business: start-up legal assistance from Kimelberg PLLC, a branding consult from Block Club, and mentoring from Oxford Pennant. Even more, Legacy Development and Legacy Design studio will offer financial planning assistance, and design services.
Together, we want to give a chance to a small entrepreneur to compete in our rapidly changing environment, and succeed in the post-pandemic restaurant surge. Character hopes to receive proposals that will offer a new and creative experience while complementing existing development and attractions. Respondents may be experienced, an existing business looking to expand, or a newcomer endeavoring to create a new restaurant for the first time. Applicants must create and submit a fully realized business plan, including a concept description, market analysis, sample menu, financials, and branding. Design is well underway for the shell of the space, to allow us to work with our future tenant to meet their specific needs. Check out some preliminary renders below:
